Snow plows: No matter what brand plow you have the most important thing is to change hydraulic fluid. Since most people store their plows outside the reservoirs tend to condensate thus accumulates water. Even if your plow is only one season old the oil should be changed. If your plow is fewyears old you should clean your filter as well and drain the oil from angle cylinders. Tip: Adding a 1 ounce of denatured alcohol will help reduce moisture in reservoir. Inspect all hoses for leaks and cracks. All electrical connections should be taken apart and cleaned. Do not forget the connections under the hoodby the battery. If you have multi pin connections they should be cleaned and greased with dielectric grease to prevent corrosion, please remember too much grease could worsen connection. If your plow uses lift chain, check for worn links. Trip springs tension. Center hinge bolt should be check for tightness.Check all metal parts for cracks. Very important on Western plows make sure that when you angle your plow right and left the a-frame stops should touch thestops on the quadrant. If you have .25” space an additional spacer could bewelded to eliminate gap. By doing that you will prevent your angle cylinders to over extend and possibly contaminate your system with debris from packing or broken rod stop. If you have more than a .25” gap inspect a-frame center bolt hole, it might be worn out too much. This might require you to replace a-frame and or quadrant as well. Tip: Some people weld additional thick plate toeliminate oval shape on center hole. Lubricate all moving parts. Remember tocarry extra parts with you when you plow. Suggested parts are: Motor relay (solenoid), trip spring and eye bolt, extra hoses, hitch pins, cotter pins, hydraulic oil. Spreaders: Well ,spreaders, especially hopper style spreaders, aren’t easy to maintain. The first start up is always the most difficult, but it is very important to prepare your hopper spreader for summer storage, but we want to help you to get your spreader ready for winter. First, if you have gas engine spray with lubricating oil e.g. WD40 throttle linkage, make sure that all levers are moving smoothly. Replace spark plug. Lubricate electric starter. Tip: Since the upper end of the starter and bendix on many engines is covered we recommend to drill (if possible) a small hole above to allow you to spray lubricant on to the bendix and armature shaft. Clean all electrical connections. Clean connections at the external battery (if you have one). Grease and inspect all bearings. Lubricate clutch bearing (do not spray oil on pressure plate) Inspect conveyor chain, adjust tension if necessary Tip: to adjust measure about 24" from the rear edge of the hopper. Move up on the chain with your hand. The conveyor chain should lift up 1"-3" off the conveyor chain guide or cross braces. Inspect drive chains, belts. Change oil in gear box. If you have electric motor clean and inspect brushes, they should move freely (most motors have access covers PLEASE MAKE SURE THIS IS THE CORRECT CUTTING EDGE IF YOU ORDER WRONG CUTTING EDGE, THERE IS 20% RESTOCKING FEE AND YOU MUST PAY SHIPPING BACK TO DISTRIBUTOR Froo www.froo.com | Froo Cross Sell, Free Cross Sell, Cross promote, eCRATER Marketing, eCRATER listing Apps, eCRATER Apps, eCRATER Application
